Tell us something not many people know about you.
I’m currently a design student at Temasek Polytechnic, but I spent time in Junior College (JC) before that. I was in an Integrated Programme secondary school and went to Victoria JC, but I decided that I didn’t want to pursue an academic route, and so I applied to transfer to a polytechnic after three months.
Who are some designers or artists who inspire you?
There’s Yang, who’s a local artist and art director. She has a unique way of viewing objects that shows in the projects she directs, and it resonates with me because it’s not something we see often. I also like the work of Joy Li, a Sydney-based designer whose work pokes at controversy in a subtle way.
What’s a dream project you’d like to take on some day?
It’s not really design-related, but I’d like to open a museum some day. I’m not sure what I want to showcase, but I want it to be a contemporary and alternative space, unlike most museums.
Describe your sense of style:
I’d say I can be pretty tomboyish, with a touch of streetwear. I wear pants most of the time; today is the only time I’ve worn a skirt this year so far! (laughs)
If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Instagram influencer Rachel Tee Tyler. It seems like she leads a very extravagant lifestyle, and I want to experience that for myself.
If I had a million dollars…
I’d save three quarters of it, and I’d spend the rest. I’d treat myself to a fancy meal, give some of the money to my family, and go shopping for shoes. (laughs)
